About Us
Our story
In the beginning there were many difficulties, the biggest of them financial. Through kirtan and social awareness work these were largely overcome, and colleagues agreed to work for a nominal honorarium. A cheerful nature and an effective speaking style had built a wide circle of close friends in society. Everyone contributed their share, and in no time nine years have passed.
Many patients struggling with addiction, and their families, have benefited — and will continue to benefit in the future.
Recognising this social work, the government honoured the center with the Mahatma Gandhi De-addiction Award in 2015-16 at Gondia, in the presence of Social Justice Minister Hon. Rajkumar Badole, Hon. Dilip Kamble and Hon. Nitin Gadkari. This doubled the enthusiasm of everyone working here, and after the project was submitted, the center received government recognition.
In the meantime, a mountain of grief fell on the center with the loss of Dheeraj (Maharaj) Sharma. To fulfil the dream he had seen, his father, his wife and his colleagues continued running the institution, completing three-quarters of a decade (nine years) of service.
Our hope is that everyone takes inspiration from such work and contributes to society in their own way — and our prayer at the feet of Shri Guru Datta is that society is freed from the scourge of addiction as soon as possible.
